It has been a fabulous few weeks for our chorus! We joined singers from a number of choirs across South-East Queensland at a workshop hosted by the Australian National Choral Association, with special guest choral expert Dr Christopher Kiver.
We had a lovely day learning three songs in contrasting styles, as a massed choir with all other attendees, and were lucky to also have a coaching session with Dr Kiver! Whatever style you're singing, many of the same principles apply, and we came away with some great observations and things to work on.
After the workshop, there was an entertaining evening concert. We performed three of our favourite songs and later returned to the stage as part of the massed choir. Then some of us continued the fun with dinner together!

These sorts of community events are wonderful because they provide an opportunity to learn new things, step outside our comfort zones, chat with singers from other choirs and appreciate everyone's unique musical styles.
Within a couple of weeks after this workshop, we welcomed three new members to our chorus! Lynette (left below) has joined our baritone section and Terri (centre below) and Riley (right below) have joined our bass section! These fabulous singers have enthusiastically jumped into chorus life over the past few weeks. We thrilled to have them with us!
Soon after welcoming our newbies, we all hit the town for some rainbow karaoke fun at The Sportsman Hotel (a.k.a. Sporties) in Spring Hill. Karaoke is a great way to step outside our comfort zones and hone our performance skills! And although we are in this chorus because we love singing harmonies with our friends, there are some fabulous solo voices in our ranks. So we love to see them shine! Check out the reel of memories from the night here.
We also have lots coming up in August – who knew winter 2025 would be so exciting?!
