Spy Cruise - Treble on the High C's
On Saturday the 1st of November, Blue Sky Harmony was excited to play a role in an a cappella musical produced by The Brisbane River City Clippers. This was our third time working with the Clippers on their biennial musicals, and we had a fantastic time!
The name of the show was 'Spy Cruise: Treble on the High C's' and it was full of humour, intrigue and harmony singing. The premise was that a group of spies was tasked with destroying a brand-new, high-tech, nuclear-powered cruise liner. Our members were amongst the passengers, and one of our members (Nat) had a starring role as a spy! She did a fabulous job playing the sneaky Natasha.

We performed two of our own pieces during the shows - True Colours and Teardrop - and joined with the Clippers to sing an epic six-part arrangement of Skyfall.
With matinee and evening performances, our members had a full day together. We loved the opportunity to spend time together chatting, eating snacks, drinking tea, squeezing in quartet rehearsals/performances, and mucking around with silly props that we'd brought with us for the ship-boarding scene.
A special shout-out for this event goes to Louise, who had her first public performance with us (two for the price of one)! Louise has been in many shows during her time in barbershop, but it was special to have her in the mix as a Blue Skyer.

Also, Julie and Shaz were featured in a quintet with current and past Clippers - including a beatboxer! They did an impressive job of theme songs from James Bond, Mission Impossible and The Pink Panther - the perfect accompaniment to spy action on stage! Including our amazing Natasha.
Well done to everyone involved - this show was made possible through many hours of work from the Clippers, the backstage crew and the guest actors. We were glad to be part of it!
