The past week has been a whirlwind! On Wednesday night, we had a great time at our Family and Friends Mini-Concert, joined by around 50 audience members. We sang our contest package in preparation for the upcoming Region 34 Festival in Adelaide, and some other fun repertoire. The show also featured Luminous Quartet and Sweet Steel (aka our awesome bari, Sharon). Thanks to everyone who came along!
We spent Saturday at the Barbershop Harmony Australia Sunshine Region Convention - it was a massive day, with an 8am arrival and 11pm departure for some! We won the invitational division with a score of 71.7 with 11 singers on stage, and were excited to be invited to perform in the afternoon A Cappella Concert and evening Showcase of Champions.
Another highlight of the day was watching Luminous Quartet win the women's quartet division and place second out of 17 quartets in the open division! They really stepped it up from their performance on Wednesday night and we're extremely happy to have been there to see this great achievement.
Big thanks to Julie Edwards, our Musical Director extraordinaire, for preparing our choir for the convention, guiding us through all the call times and on-stage times, making us feel super comfortable on stage, and even playing the part of valet at one point!
Our members loved catching up with singers from other barbershop choruses across the region and spending some quality time together as a chorus. Congratulations to all the performers who crossed the stage over the course of the event and The Blenders Chorus for being amazing hosts. We thoroughly enjoyed all the performances and can't wait to return next year!
Time for a drink during a break at the Sunshine Region Convention! Congrats to Luminous on their medals!
